Following the success at the Cambridge Bay site, Gold Rim Exploration began exploration of other promising regions in Nunavut. Kivalliq District was found to be was found to be an exciting location for Gold and Silver mining and Gold Rim Exploration eventually settled in Meliadine following negotiations with the Nanavut Land Committee.
In 2016, Gold and Silver mining began via an Open-Pit format and remains one of the most promising locations in the company's portfolio. Gold Rim Exploration currently operates 4 of the 12 open-pit operations in the area.
The site produces over 36K tonnes of Gold and Silver at a 73%/27% ratio. The site is expected to run until 2034.
